Brera - Soho in Milan

It's around 8pm and I've just come home after an evening stroll at dusk.

In the major Italian cities people often go for an evening 'passigata' with their beau or partner. Even though I've noticed that in the evening Italians often go out to walk their dogs, in Brera (the Soho of Milan where I am now living) from my balcony I have noticed that many Italians get 'dolled-up to the nines' to walk up and down the length of the street and along its cobblestoned lanes. Occasionally they also stop to talk about the shop merchandise whilst eating a gelato or stop to admire their reflection in the shop windows. It seems that at this hour of the day, they are mostly out to 'catch a breath of fresh air' and catch the attention of the fabulous and beautiful people in the bars and cafe who are sipping appertivios and admiring themselves.

I've also noticed that the closer one gets to the weekend the more tanned they appear. Apparently solariums, spray tans and melanin tablets are very common.

With seven days remaining in Milan, I'm filled with enthusiasm to immerse myself even more in the Italian culture and idiosyncrasies, and whilst I'm posting the heels home, I too went for an evening stroll.

Now I'm home for a quick bite to eat, shower and then I have to leave to go to the Museo del Novecento to attend an evening Concert by an Israel artist at Sala Fontana.
